The Jakewalk Cocktail

This month, Imbibe Magazine has an interesting article on the rapidly developing Brooklyn cocktail scene.  Not being one to leave Manhattan very often, I don't find myself at these establishments nearly often enoug.  So I was happy to try out a few of these recipes at home.

First up, the Jakewalk Cocktail from the eponymous Jakewalk.

The Jakewalk
----------------------------------------
¾ oz white rum
¾ oz resposado tequila
¾ oz St. Germain (Elderflower liqueur)
¾ oz fresh lime juice
2 dashes Peychaud’s Bitters
Shake and strain
Garnish with an orange twist and serve up

Thoughts and a photo after the jump

As you can sort of see from the photo, I used 10 Cane Rum which - a first-press Trinidadian sugar cane rum and Partida Resposado Tequila which was recently awarded a Ultimate Spirits Challenge Chairman’s Trophy as an "extraordinary/ultimate recommendation"  (94 points).

SO...thoughts....a very tasty drink.  The lime juice really balanced the St. Germain - which I usually find too dominant in drinks.  And despite the combo of base spirits you could really pick up the distinct flavors of each.   All in all, a really nice drink for a late summer day....and definitely a reason to move the Jakewalk up my list of places to visit.
